Keyword Facts That You Need to Know

Keywords are very important for converting your sales in your Internet marketing business.

Keywords will provide you with targeted traffic to your website.

When writing a title for an article or a blog you should use keywords in the first 4 words of the title.

Jeff Herring- The Article Guy recommends that for your title you use his formula of “Keywords – Benefit(s) – Keywords”.

Most of the time we think of keywords as being one word or 2 words like affiliating marketing, but what I have learned as I was researching this topic is something called “long tail keywords”. This would be something like affiliate marketing tips or affiliate marketing programs.

4 Advantages of Using Long Tail Keywords.
1. You will have less competition for your ads.
2. If someone puts a phrase in the search engine that tells us they are looking to buy. The general keywords usually gets lookers where as the longer phrases tells us they are looking for something specific and are probably ready to buy.
3. If you are doing PPC the bids will be lower with long tail keywords.
4. CTR & CR’s will more then likely be much higher.

These long tail keywords are often called “sub niche” keywords. (Not the big dog keywords.) So if you focus on the sub niches they will pay off more.

There are no right or wrong key words, but there are good keywords and bad keywords. You want to find the good ones and ramp them up, because they are the ones that will put the money in your pocket. Where as the bad keywords are the ones you want to get rid of fast becaise they will drain your pocket.

9 Steps of coming up with good keywords.
1. You need to put yourself in the prospect’s mind as to what words or phrases will they use in order to search for your product.
2. Why would they be searching for your product?
3. Are they looking for an online business?
4. Are they going to be working strictly from the computer?
5. How much money are they willing to invest on their new business. Might they want FREE affiliate marketing tips or a free affiliate marketing program.
6. How much time are they willing to spend on the business?
7. Do your research. Go to other affiliate websites and see what they are doing with their promotions.
8. Find out what keywords others are using.
9. By doing your research you will be surprised how your keywords will appear to you.

You need to understand that some of the most popular search terms are not always the best search terms.

Have a large list of keywords and long tail keywords. That is the best way to go.

If you don’t have the best keywords and phrases no one will see your advertisements and you won’t make any money from your websites.

There are no right stratgies, but there are some free tools you can use.
1. Freekeywords.worktracker.com This is great for long tail keywords and they have a free version that you can use.

2. Digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion.

Overture use to be #1 for keyword searches, but Google bought them and in Jan. 2007 Google stopped updating it so it is no longer producing updated results. Forget Overture!

There are 4 Different Forms of keywords.
1. Plurals
2. Synonyms
3. Different word order for phrase.
4. Different verb forms (lose, losing, etc.)

Spy on your Competitor to see what they are doing.

We have just learned how important keywords are to us. It is like they are the backbone of our business. Without them we wouldn’t have many sales, or much traffic. Keywords can be general or they can be more specific called long tail keywords. Keywords are good or bad and we want to keep the good ones. We covered 9 ways of coming up with our keywords and 2 free tools that we can use to select our keywords from. Be sure that you spy on your competitor because that will help to give you more ideas for keywords and marketing.

It wasn’t a trickle of money coming in…it was a flood of cold, hard cash.

Renita,

I dont think I would forget overture. I think it has it's place, you just have to understand that it is a little outdated.

(Make sure that they, at least, appear inside overture’s results.)

Collecting the data from a couple of levels provides site owners with the full perspective of how target audiences find the information on their Web sites.

Analyzing Keyword Research Data

By gathering and analyzing keyword data, Web site owners gain valuable insight to user behavior and ways to create a more user-friendly site that converts visitors into buyers.

Some of the goals of keyword research is to:

Help you discover new keyword opportunities.

Find some missed keyword opportunities.

Help you increase the number of clicks from landing pages to the site.

Help you increase the relevance of landing pages from natural SEO, PPC advertising campaigns, press releases, or offline marketing efforts.

Something very important to remember about Keyword Research is that, keyword research and analysis is always an ongoing process. It is not a set and forget strategy.
